MICHAEL BRYANT

Executive Director of Athletics

Michael is responsible for ensuring that DCPS remains in compliance with Title IX regulations, investigating athletics grievances and Title IX complaints, evaluating and processing transfer eligibility, overseeing student-athlete enrichment programs (Student-Athlete Advisory Board & Preparing Student-Athletes for College Series), and data collection and analysis for participation. He is also the sport coordinator for HS and MS Basketball. Prior to joining DCPS, Michael worked in intercollegiate athletics serving as an Offensive Coordinator for two FCS programs. Michael received his MPA and BS from Bowie State University. Michael is a native Washingtonian and alumnus of McKinley Tech HS.

PEGGY BRANCH-MCCASKILL

Budget Specialist

Peggy manages the department’s budget and Student Activity Fund. She ensures all contracts are executed properly and paid on-time. She also oversees the extra-duty pay process for coaches and manages two middle school analysts that log coaching certifications and process pay forms. Peggy was previously the business manager at Turning Point Academy charter school. A native Washingtonian, Peggy graduated from Duke Ellington School for the Arts. She holds degrees from UDC and American Intercontinental University.

GERARD COBB

Middle School Analyst

Gerard ensures our middle schools can maintain strong athletic programs. This includes training and oversight of DCIAA rule adherence, support with Title IX initiatives, data analysis, and support of school operations and logistics. Gerard is particularly focused on supporting schools that are growing their sports programs and building staff capacity. Gerard was previously an intern, and program assistant with the DCIAA. Gerard is an alumnus of Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Sport Administration with a minor in Coaching.

KEITH GOGANIOUS

Deputy Director of Athletics

Keith oversees Football and Basketball at the high school and middle school level. He has over 15 years of experience as an athletic executive and mentor. He played professionally as a linebacker in the NFL with the Bills, Jaguars, and Ravens, and participated in two Super Bowls. He has been a coach at IMG Academy, Bishop McNamara, North Point HS, and Hampton University. Keith holds a BA in Business Management from Penn State and is pursuing a MA in Sports Analytics and Management from American University. He is a member of the Penn State Football Letterman's Club, NFL Alumni, and NFLPA Retired Players Association.

MARC HARRISON

Middle School Analyst

Marc ensures our middle schools can maintain strong athletic programs. This includes training and oversight of DCIAA rule adherence, support with Title IX initiatives, data analysis, and support of school operations and logistics. Marc is particularly focused on supporting schools that are growing their sports programs and building staff capacity. Marc brings a wealth of knowledge to the DCIAA, having worked on the collegiate level as an Assistant Athletic Director for NCAA Compliance and as a Head Coach for Track and Field. Early in his career, he was a teacher for Camden Public Schools (NJ), Baltimore City and County Public Schools (MD), and at Richard Wright Public Charter School (DC). Marc is a native of Woodbury, NJ and a graduate of Bucknell University.

MARK KANELLIS

Assistant Athletic Director

Mark is the Sport Coordinator for Baseball, Softball, Lacrosse, Wrestling, Archery, and Swimming. He oversees all logistics including scheduling, procurement of equipment, verifying eligibility, managing championships, and more. Previously, he was the Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach as well as the Director of Intramurals, Club Sports, and Aquatics at Alfred State College. Prior to arriving at the DCIAA, he was also an Athletic Director in North Carolina. A native of Upstate New York, Mark holds a Master’s in Sport Management from SUNY Cortland and a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Nazareth College.

AVERY WARLEY-TALBERT

Avery is a Southeast DC native, born in the heart of the nation’s capital. She attended Johnson MS and the "Tower of Power" H.D. Woodson HS. She earned a full basketball scholarship to Liberty University, where she completed her bachelor’s degree and some graduate coursework in psychology. She pursued her passion for basketball at the professional level, playing in the WNBA for seven years and in Europe for over a decade. After retiring from the sport, she returned to her hometown with a mission to give back to the community. She worked as a teacher and a substitute for two years prior to joining DCIAA. She wants to inspire this generation of students to realize their potential and achieve their dreams, regardless of their circumstances.

JAMILA WATSON

Lead Athletic Trainer

Jamila is the Lead Athletic Trainer (AT) for DCIAA and oversees all aspects of its sports medicine program. She leads the staff of Athletic Trainers and is responsible for the medical care and safety of student-athletes as it relates to policies, procedures, and venues. Jamila also serves as the Head Athletic Trainer at Woodrow Wilson HS. She is a graduate of DC Public Schools and possesses a BS degree in Biology/Pre-Medicine from Spelman College and a MS degree in Exercise Science from The George Washington University. Jamila is a certified and licensed AT and an active member in the NATA, MAATA, and DCATA
